Tokuyama Dam (Submerged Site of Tokuyama Village)
The site of the former village of Tokuyama, now at the bottom of the Tokuyama Dam reservoir in Ibigawa, Gifu. About 1,500 people (466 households) once lived in eight mountain hamlets, but every household relocated for the dam's construction, and the village was dissolved in 1987. Completed in 2008, Tokuyama Dam is said to be the largest in Japan, with a total storage capacity of 660 million cubic meters. The places where people once lived now lie beneath the emerald-green lake. Upstream, the Tokuyama Kaikan has exhibits on life in the former village.
