Yanagase Shopping Street (Yanagase-dori)
An entertainment district in Gifu City, known throughout Japan from the Showa-era popular song "Yanagase Blues." In 1960, the first all-weather arcade in the prefecture was built over Yanagase-dori. Since the department stores left, a dim street lined with shutters runs on beneath the long roof, even in the daytime. Part of the arcade on the north side is scheduled to be removed over about ten years because of its age.
