21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa
An art museum designed by SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa), opened in 2004. A circular glass building 112.5 m in diameter sits in the middle of a lawn, with white corridors and courtyards linked like a maze. The free public zone stays open until 10 p.m., and at night, when the visitors thin out, it becomes hard to tell which side is the front and which is the back.
