Liminal space · Ishikawa, Japan

Kanazawa Umimirai Library

A library opened in 2011, designed by Coelacanth K&H (Hiroshi Horiba and Kazumi Kudo). About 6,000 round windows are set into its white, box-like walls, and points of light fall quietly into a large, high-ceilinged space. Set under the wide suburban sky, the white box looks, even from outside, like a building slightly removed from reality.
