Tamagawa Housing Water Towers
A group of water towers standing in one corner of the Tamagawa Housing complex, sometimes called a "holy land of water towers." There were once five towers, but redevelopment has reduced their number and only three remain. Rising suddenly between the residential blocks, they create a strangely unreal landscape. The moment when only the plain towers stand out against a blue sky feels like a liminal space itself. As a symbol of Showa-era housing estate culture, they have quietly gained a following among photographers.
