Kokudo Station

An unstaffed station on the JR Tsurumi Line, between Tsurumi and Tsurumi-Ono stations. It opened in 1930 as a station of the Tsurumi Rinko Railway, and apart from the ticket gate being moved, it is said never to have been substantially rebuilt. Beneath the elevated tracks, a dim passage of repeating arches stretches on, and little outside light reaches it even during the day. The outer wall of the station building still bears bullet holes said to be from strafing in 1945. People still live and run shops beneath the tracks, so when taking photos, please take care not to capture residents or their doorways.
