Nagura Elementary School Komagahara Branch
The remains of a small branch school on Komagahara, a plateau about 1,000 meters above sea level in Shitara, Aichi. It was set up for the children of a settlement founded after the war by people who had returned from Manchuria and cleared the virgin forest, and its single-story wooden school building was built in 1953. Classes were suspended in 1978, and the school was formally closed in 1982. The building is badly deteriorated. A campsite lies next door and people come and go, so please do not enter the building and view it quietly from outside. In winter, take care with snow and ice.
