Pieri Moriyama
Pieri Moriyama, a large shopping mall on the shore of Lake Biwa. It opened with many tenants, but they pulled out one after another, and for a time nearly every shop had its shutters down, drawing nationwide attention as a "bright ruin." Since a full renewal in 2014 it has become lively again, yet its wide corridors and atriums still hold a distinctive atmosphere in which the memory of its former bustle sits alongside a certain quiet.
