Takachiho Railway Bridge
A railway bridge of the former Takachiho Railway spanning the deep valley of the Gokase River in Takachiho, Miyazaki. Standing about 105 meters above the riverbed, it was known as the tallest railway bridge in Japan. Service was suspended after Typhoon No. 14 in September 2005, and the line was abandoned in 2008 without being restored. Today Takachiho Amaterasu Railway runs a sightseeing vehicle, the "Grand Super Cart", and you can look down into the valley through its glass floor. On windy days it may turn back without crossing the bridge.
