Former Shidaka Ropeway (Tateishiyama Station)
The remains of Tateishiyama Station on the Shidaka Ropeway, which opened in 1984 and ended service after only about 15 years, following typhoon damage in 1998. It has been left forgotten in the mountains for more than 20 years since, and rust-brown gondola carriers and the crumbling stairs of the station building appear suddenly in the quiet forest. The sight of a ride that once carried tourists slowly decaying gives off a peculiar, floating feeling, as if time had stopped. The footing is poor and there is a risk of collapse, so take great care if you explore.
