Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel

A 750-meter pedestrian tunnel built in 1996 to replace a gorge walking trail that had been closed after a rockfall accident in 1988. For the 2018 Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale it was remodeled as "Tunnel of Light", a work by Ma Yansong / MAD Architects. At the end of a long passage lit by color-changing lights, at the Panorama Station, a water-covered floor mirrors the gorge and the people standing in it.
