Former Ishiuchi Royal Hotel
The remains of a five-story hotel for skiers, standing on a hill above Route 17 in Ishiuchi, Minamiuonuma. With arched windows, an external spiral staircase and a tower with a pointed roof, it looks like a castle. It is said to have opened in the 1980s and appears to have closed in the mid-2000s. A later fire reportedly burned part of it, and the back of the building looks as if demolition stopped partway through. There is a risk of collapse, so please stay off the grounds and view it only from the highway or other public roads.
