Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station Passage (Model for an Anomaly in The Exit 8)

An underground passage at Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station on the Toei Oedo Line. It was known for the irregular arrangement of its ceiling fluorescent lights, and the creator of the game The Exit 8 has explained that the anomaly in which the lighting falls out of order was based on this station (the passage itself was reportedly modeled on a different station). The lights were removed during LED replacement work between 2025 and 2026, and now only marks remain on the ceiling. Although it is an ordinary part of a station, its enclosed, repetitive corridor has long been counted among the classic examples of liminal spaces.
