Hiroshima City Naka Incineration Plant (Ecorium)
A waste incineration plant designed by Yoshio Taniguchi and completed in 2004. It was designed so that the axis running from the Peace Memorial Park toward the sea passes straight through the building. Through Ecorium, a glass-walled viewing space open to anyone, you can walk all the way to the sea side while looking down on the equipment at work. A strangely open passage that feels neither quite like an art museum nor quite like a factory.
