Iyotetsu Takashimaya Ferris Wheel Kururin
A large Ferris wheel on the roof of the Iyotetsu Takashimaya department store in Matsuyama. Built into the building itself, it began operating in 2001 when the store was expanded, rising 85 m above the ground with a diameter of 45 m. Its 32 four-person gondolas take about 15 minutes to make one rotation, offering views over the city of Matsuyama. Two transparent see-through gondolas were added in 2016. Above the sales floors where shoppers come and go, the gondolas keep turning slowly, with a quiet that feels slightly lifted from the city.
