Hakata Port Tower
A 100-meter red steel tower standing on Hakata Pier. It opened in 1964 and was designed by Tachu Naito, who also designed Tokyo Tower. Anyone can go up to its round observation room 70 meters above the ground for free, and at quiet times a Showa-era room seems to float silently there, surrounded by the lights of the harbor.
