Liminal space · Okinawa, Japan

Oceanic Culture Museum (Ocean Expo Park)

A building constructed as the Japanese government's pavilion for the 1975 International Ocean Exposition in Okinawa. It stands in a corner of the large park created on the former expo grounds and is still open to the public. Much of the exhibition dates from the expo itself, and walking among the large canoes and half-century-old displays quietly arranged inside feels like being in the continuation of a festival that has already ended.
