Lopia Hirosaki Store
A branch of the Lopia supermarket chain on the first basement floor of CiiNA Hirosaki, a commercial building in front of Hirosaki Station. Rows of plain fluorescent lights, tiled floors and the closed-in air peculiar to basements give it the feel of a supermarket that could be anywhere and yet exists nowhere. It drew attention on social media as a 'real-life liminal space' hidden within an everyday place for shopping.
