Osarizawa Mine
The site of one of Japan's most historic mines, said to have a mining tradition going back to the Asuka period. It was long open to the public as a historic site (from fiscal 2026 it is a tour facility by advance reservation only). Inside the tunnels, reddish-brown rock faces and the traces of mine cart tracks remain, and above ground the remains of the old ore-processing facilities stand quietly among cracked concrete.
