Seikan Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkoda Maru
A Seikan ferry that entered service in 1964 and linked Aomori and Hakodate until March 1988. It is now moored at the quay right next to Aomori Station and open to the public as a memorial ship. On the vehicle deck, where whole trains were once loaded aboard, retired passenger cars and freight cars still sit in rows, and there is also an exhibit that recreates the Showa-era area in front of Aomori Station with life-size figures. Walking through a ship that will never set sail again feels like wandering into a moment where time has stopped.
