Former Kawano Station, Okutama Lake Ropeway
The remains of Kawano Station on the Okutama Lake Ropeway, which opened in 1962 and stopped running in the winter of 1966 for what was called a "winter closure," never to reopen. A rusted gondola is still here, sitting quietly as if buried in a bamboo grove. It was built to carry people, yet no one will ever ride it again, and the place feels as though time has stopped. There are no-entry signs and a risk of collapse, so please do not approach it; view it only from a distance.
