Yano Hydroelectric Power Plant
The remains of a hydroelectric power plant in Yano, Kamikawa, Saitama, in the valley of the Kanna River. It began operating in 1914 and is said to have been the first hydroelectric plant in Saitama Prefecture. When the Shimokubo Dam was built upstream, part of its intake channel was to be submerged, and the plant was decommissioned in 1966. The machinery is long gone, but the solid brick building, still fitted with insulators, stands to this day. The site is privately owned, and the town of Kamikawa states that it is not in a position to permit entry. Please do not enter the grounds; view it only from outside.
