Yoshimura Brick Factory (Remaining Chimney, Asahikawa)
A single brick chimney stands among the farmland of Sakuraoka, Higashiasahikawa-cho, Asahikawa. It is what remains of the Yoshimura Brick Factory, founded in 1941, which also fired bricks for military use during the war but went out of business after demand fell in the postwar years. The factory buildings are already gone, leaving only the chimney. Its surface is noticeably cracked, so please do not go near it or enter the surrounding farmland; view it only from the road.
