Mäusebunker

A former animal research facility in Lichterfelde, southwestern Berlin, known by the nickname Mäusebunker, meaning "mouse bunker." Designed by Gerd Hänska and Magdalena Hänska among others, it was begun in 1971 and, after an interruption, completed in 1981. It is a long, trapezoidal mass of exposed concrete, with blue ventilation pipes jutting out from its sloping walls. It fell out of use around 2019, and although demolition was considered, it was decided in 2023 to preserve it as a listed monument. The grounds are closed, so please view it from outside.
