Asahi Elementary School (Family School Fureai)
The site of the former Yubari City Asahi Elementary School, directly across from the Yubari Coal Mine Museum. It opened in 1975 when three elementary schools merged, using the building of the former Yubari No. 2 Elementary School, but closed just eight years later, in 1983. It was then used as a lodging facility called "Family School Fureai" until that closed in 2006. The facility's sign still hangs on the school building with its broken windows, and the gymnasium roof collapsed under heavy snow in 2021. The interior is at risk of collapse, so please view it only from the roads around the museum.
