Kumanotaira Station Site (Former JNR Shin'etsu Main Line)
The site of Kumanotaira signal station (later a station), once a key point on the old Shin'etsu Main Line. Trains in both directions used to wait here for one another, and there were substation facilities as well. Today mossy platforms, the remains of the substation and the portals of disused tunnels still stand quietly, half buried in greenery. Wild animals pass along the old track bed, now little more than a game trail, a sight that makes you strongly feel the time that has piled up since people left.
