Higashi-Narita Station (Former Narita Airport Station)

Opened in 1978 as Narita Airport Station along with the opening of the airport, it was renamed Higashi-Narita Station in 1991 when a new station was built directly beneath the airport terminal. It is still the terminus of the Keisei Higashi-Narita Line, with through services to the Shibayama Railway, but its former limited express platforms are no longer used, and station signs bearing the old name and old advertisements remain. Outside the ticket gates, an underground passage about 500 m long leads to Terminal 2, and at quiet times only footsteps echo through it. Though still a working station, it has a stillness as if time had stopped.
