Liminal space · Sweden

Kungsträdgården Station

The eastern terminus of the Stockholm metro's Blue Line, opened in 1977. The platform lies about 34 meters underground inside the bedrock, and the artist Ulrik Samuelson designed the station's decoration. Between rock walls painted green and red stand statues and ornamental fragments from buildings demolished during the redevelopment of the city center, giving it the feel of a garden sunk into the earth. Work is underway on a new line extending south from here, and the station was temporarily closed in summer 2026.
