Former Kyodosha Yuzawa San-ei

The site of Kyodosha Yuzawa San-ei, a locally owned department store that operated from 1982 until around 1999. The building still towers over the area in front of Yuzawa Station. Its ground floor has been hollowed out to make way for a karaoke shop and its parking lot, but the faded "SAN-EI" logo remains on the outer wall. The upper-floor windows, which still recall the store's working days, stay quietly shut, and amid the busy street in front of the station, this one spot carries a stillness as if time had stopped.
