Kinugawa-kan Main Building (Kappa Buro)
The remains of a large ryokan on the riverside in Kinugawa Onsen. A long-established inn known for its large bath "Kappa Buro," which began as a bath built on the riverbed, it kept operating while adding annexes to the main building, but it went bankrupt in 1999 with debts of about 3 billion yen and became the first hotel in Kinugawa Onsen to close. Its entrance and other openings were sealed in 2022, and in 2026 Nikko City and others set up a council aimed at demolishing the abandoned hotels of the hot spring town. Floors may give way, so please view it only from the opposite bank of the Kinugawa River.
