Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana

A high-speed railway station in Reggio Emilia, northern Italy, opened in 2013 and designed by Santiago Calatrava. A unit built from 13 different types of white steel portal frames is repeated 25 times to form an undulating roof 483 meters long. The station sits in the suburbs about 4 km north of the city center, surrounded by fields and roads. Between trains, only a wide space remains beneath the white ribs, giving the feeling of a city gateway with no city beyond it.
