Sokol Station

A station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line of the Moscow Metro in Russia, opened in September 1938. It takes its name from the nearby Sokol cooperative housing settlement, known as Sokol Village. It is a shallow station about 10 meters underground, with a single row of columns down the middle that flare out at the top to support two white vaults. Between the columns, the ceiling is lined with round recesses designed to reflect the light from the lamps. With nothing but white curved surfaces repeating, the platform becomes a hall that belongs nowhere once the train has gone. Be sure to check the latest safety information before traveling.
