Beijing Daxing International Airport Terminal
Beijing Daxing International Airport is an international airport on the southern outskirts of Beijing, China, opened in September 2019. The passenger terminal, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and ADP Ingenierie, is a single enormous building with a total floor area of about 700,000 square meters, among the largest single terminals in the world. Its starfish-like plan has five concourses radiating from a central hall, designed so that every gate lies within about an eight-minute walk of the center. Inside, white columns opening into a C shape flow continuously up into the ceiling, and natural light falls to the floor through the "valleys" between them. With almost no straight lines or right angles, the same curved surfaces stretch on across your field of view, blurring your sense of direction and distance. At times when passengers are few, an empty valley made only of white curves appears.
