Buffalo Central Terminal

An Art Deco railway station that opened in 1929. It has a tower about 82 meters tall, and when it opened, 200 trains a day arrived and departed. As rail travel declined it fell out of use, and with its last train in October 1979 its life as a station came to an end. It then lay neglected for many years, but a preservation group took it over, and repair work on the vaulted concourse is now under way, with the aim of reopening in 2027. The building cannot be entered during construction, and events are held on the lawn outside.
