Lærdal Tunnel

A road tunnel about 24.5 km long linking Lærdal and Aurland in western Norway, opened in 2000. It is said to be the longest road tunnel in the world. Along the monotonous drive, which takes about 20 minutes, there are three large rock caverns, and only these are lit with blue light and yellow light along the edges. After driving on through a gray tube, a blue cave suddenly opens up ahead. From September 2026, for about two years, the tunnel will be closed every night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for renovation work.
