Minhocão (Elevado Presidente João Goulart)
An elevated highway about 3.5 km long running through central São Paulo, opened in 1971. Its official name was changed in 2016 to Elevado Presidente João Goulart. The roadway passes right in front of apartment windows, only a few meters from the balconies. On weekday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., and on weekends and holidays, it is closed to cars and becomes a wide floor for people on foot. The city plans to end car traffic by 2029. The buildings along it are homes, so please take care not to photograph into the windows.
