Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (Square Colosseum), EUR
A white, box-shaped building in EUR, a newer district in southern Rome, also known as the "Square Colosseum." It was built from the late 1930s for the Rome World's Fair planned for 1942, but the fair was never held because of the war. Each face has 54 arches, nine across and six high, and behind every arch lies a shadow of the same depth. Statues line the ground floor. It is often compared to a painting by de Chirico. Since 2015 it has housed Fendi's headquarters, and only the ground floor is open to the public, during exhibitions.
