Euglena Mall (Ishigaki)
The southernmost covered shopping arcade in Japan, at the heart of Ishigaki Island. Two arcades were built over the street in 1988 and 1989, with the public market sitting between them. By day it is busy with tourists, but in the morning before the shops open, or after they close, all that remains is a long, dim passage where the roof keeps out the strong southern sun.
